Talk about stupid. Really??? They need a night mayor or whatever, like I need a whole in the head. I suggest get rid of everyone including this mayor and all councillors and start all over again with people who have some sort of knowledge on how to run a city and has enough brains not to even think of hiring a night mayor. This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.
Somehow, I don’t see the good people over there at the Planning Department as being deeply committed to this whole Night Mayor thing. It’s taken them nine months to go from Council motion to job posting and who knows how long they will dilly-dally on the way to an actual hiring of said Night Mayor.
Looking into my crystal ball, I don’t see this position being a howling success because, if the people responsible for bringing you on and then supporting you aren’t in it heart and soul, there’s no chance of you succeeding no matter who you are. My crystal ball may, of course, be at fault for attributing the concepts of “heart” and “soul” to the Planning Department and its denizens.
Unless, naturally, you are a developer in which case anything is possible.
This is just the beginning. The nightmare, sorry, Night Mayor, needs an office and staff. How many people will this individual need? I’m thinking, The Count from Sesame Street could be the Chief of Staff, and Count Chocula in charge of snacks etc. Maybe throw in Franken Berry & Boo Berry, they seem like nocturnal type individuals.
