What fools! Why would we believe they will hit this date when it has slipped 4 days since yesterday’s media event?

The news is actually LRT will reopen no earlier than Aug 14.

Than reopening will still likely be partial. Half trains or half the length.

I see where people are having a problem getting the message straight from this memo. Take another look at it because sometimes the brain will add things in that make sense to it but that aren’t really on the page. Mme Amilcar was clear that the return to service will be no earlier than August 14 so you’ve jumped to the conclusion that a date within two weeks is in play for the train to return.

Look again – nowhere in her memo does she say that she’s referring to August 14, 2023. She is possibly putting out there not to expect to see a train at your local station before the 14th of August in 2024 … or maybe even later.

And what is she offering to provide in the line of train cars? Well, she tells us in her bit about fleet availability that we’ll get train cars when it’s safe. This is, of course, a departure from previous LRT policy which allowed them to run trains that they knew had problems and weren’t necessarily safe. Does this mean that we, as the fare-paying passengers, will be able to get a signed guarantee before we board a train that it, the rails it rides on and all other parts of the system are in perfect mechanical condition? I look forward to that day but I don’t think it’s coming in two weeks.
