Now this is a person who sees the police very frequently.

For Spratt to hold such an opinion is very telling.

He was addressing the case of a young boy who gave police the finger from a school bus. The police entered the bus and threatened to take the boy to their cruiser. They then complained to the young boy’s principal.

It used to be that the school yard bully was a 12-year-old who was bigger than the other guys … and they paid the price.

But now the school-yard bully wears Kevlar, huge boots and carries a sidearm.

Maybe with such hair-trigger tempers, civil authorities should consider taking those sidearms away.

And tell us Chief Eric Stubbs, are these the officers you want to visit schools so that the kids don’t hate police officers for the rest of their lives? Bullies.

Look chief, your Ottawa Police Service has some horrible problems and if you don’t get out of your dream world of police sweetness-and-light to clean up the force, well then you’re part of the problem. And you know what politicians do when someone causes them bad PR, embarrasses them and costs them votes and perhaps puts their jobs in jeopardy?

They fire them. Best you get to work and start firing your officer offenders. Clean up the OPS. Because if you don’t clean up the force, you’re part of the problem. That means, you get fired sooner of later.

And don’t let your officers anywhere near a school. There are already enough school-year bullies.

Here’s an idea. Do your damn job rather than pontificating about the glorious nature of the OPS.
