PM Sutcliffe Visit Just PR: MULVIHILL

This from Mayor Mark Sutcliffe:

“Thank you to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for visiting me … and for a great discussion. It’s the first time a sitting prime minister has visited Ottawa City Hall for a meeting with the mayor. We talked about working together to address Ottawa’s unique and immediate challenges including the future of downtown and public transit.”

Your Worship, please remember that there was no money in the recent federal budget for Ottawa’s dismal public transit system. Also, what could the prime minister possibly have to offer to resolve the challenges of downtown?

So hate to be the one to break it to you but … this was all posturing on Trudeau’s behalf in an attempt to raise his less than stellar profile.

Donna Mulvihill is a community activist and former hospital coordinator.

I’m guessing this has to do with potentially the Feds giving up downtown land (L’esplande laurier?) for a downtown arena.
It would allow for the city to sell the land to the Senators to help defray the loss of Payment in Lieu of Taxes and to show the Feds are helping the city – it is election time soon…

Trudeau has been on the campaign trail for OVER A YEAR. Spending time in B.C frequently visiting city hall(s) all over the country, handing out YOUR money to buy votes. Yes voter, exactly. Trying to improve his image.
