Replacement Buses To Run At Same Time As Light Rail

Your agent does not know what to make of this at present, but light rail will run at the same time as current replacement buses.

Maybe you folks can help out on this score.

Clearly, they have not much confidence in their plan to reinstate train service. Ergo, they are maintaining the replacement bus service in parallel to the train so it’s ready to go when the train plan falls through.

They’ve flipped the description of what’s happening though. What they are really doing is continuing to run the R1 bus service and adding a few trains alongside it. The core service is being provided by the buses, not the trains.

Can you imagine the mayhem in the stations as people try to get one of the few seats on the trains? Will they have some kind of crowd management set-up where they will let a limited number of people onto the platform at a time and direct the losers to the bus? I wouldn’t be volunteering to stand between people wanting to use the train instead of the buses and their intended goal! Hope they’re prepared to give their platform staff danger pay!

They’re also setting up a communications game here. They will spin it that people actually have more service than they did last week with the addition of the trains. Plus they can say that the train is “operational” and so the clock on the ‘NO-train’ comes to a stop. They will show a two-week stretch without a train service but, as of Monday, the train is running!

Why R1 bus service. Let me count the reasons. Riders have LOST all confidence in the Last Resort Transit. Riders are afraid of the LRT killing them. LRT is totally unreliable. LRT has to run even without customers so it looks like it works. Even if LRT runs the 8 half trains it can not handle the ridership.so ride a bus .If you get on the LRT you will in all probability need to transfer from a broken LRT to the R1 so why not start out on R1. LRT needs weight to prove it works so riders get on board. Busses are there just in case.
