SMOKE: The Town That Sun Forgot

Maybe this smoke is god’s way of punishing Ottawans for all our political sins.

You know, giving free money to rich guys, giving free money to rich guys who are developers, allowing our police service to rot, allowing our roads to rot, our garbage to become a profit centre (and to rot), traffic cameras to become a profit centre, lying, stealing, corrupt politics, broken promises, destroyed traditional neighbourhoods, billions for transit that doesn’t work, diminishing democracy, creating the crappiest municipal government in Canada  … it goes on and on and on and on … and after it has gone on and on, Jim Watson is on the comeback trail. Father, forgive us; for we do not know what we’re doing …

And that’s just the municipal government. Imagine the sins on Parliament Hill. The mind wobbles.

Okay, so here’s the weather forecast.

City Cancels Some Outdoor Programs Due To Smoke

The smoke is supposed to get a little less thick on Thursday and then thicker on Friday. Then the five-day forecast is for rain every day. Every damn day. Oh well, maybe it will put the fires out. After that smoke and steam.

We are paying for our sins politicos. No word yet on pestilence (we already had one of those) or grasshoppers after the precipitation, steam and smoke. But it will rain cats and dogs. Watch out for falling animals. Maybe the Night Mayor can deal with this. We’ll check.

So Environment Canada has forecast more air quality warnings.
