So Why Was The Kanata Bear Shot?

Below is a release from the City of Ottawa outlining the municipality’s response to a bear being sighted in Kanata and subsequently put down by the Ottawa Police Service.

There is a bit of a problem with this memo. That is the policy seems reasonable but why was the young bear put down by the OPS. Was it presenting a threat to the public and what did that threat constitute? In other words, why?

The great white hunter and councillor for all of Kanata South Allan Hubley gave some cock-and-bull story about the bear possibly coming into your house. Most, but not all, bears run away when you say boo. Kanatan’s do love their bylaws so they would say boo very loudly to the bear because it was breaking a bylaw and then wonder why the neighbour’s garage door is painted some illegal colour. Two reasons to call bylaw.

Sutcliffe Must Stop The Lying At The City: WHOPPER WATCH

Anyway the circumstances surrounding the bear’s death are not explained much at all in the missive below and that’s the answer people want to hear from the city and OPS. Maybe the city doesn’t want the public to know? It’s a pretty obvious thing to be missing from the release.

Now why was the information not given? Have the bear’s next-of-kin not been notified? Or did the city not want to say and if it did not want to say, why was that? Somebody do something wrong? You see here comes that pesky trust thing again. Lie a number of times to residents and guess what? They don’t trust you.

What’s wrong with the truth? That’s a story that is much easier to keep straight than a lie.

Has the culture of covering-up at city hall become so obsessive that the city can’t give the reason why a

bear was shot?

Anyway the release from the City of Ottawa is below:
