Sutcliffe Supporters Have Buyers’ Regret: THE VOTER

The Voter weighs in on the issue of Mayor Mark Sutcliffe’s performance:

Before he jumped into the job, did Mayor Mark Sutcliffe just take advice from the Watsonites or did he have a chat with our last direct-to-the-top mayor?

It would be interesting to know what wise counsel Larry O’Brien would give someone thinking of following in his footsteps. It certainly looks like he’ll be joining O’Brien in the One-Term-Mayor Club.

A lot of people who voted for Sutcliffe are now having buyer’s regret. Even those who are cutting him some slack because he started out with so many problems not of his making are saying the clock is running out and he’s almost at the point where they are no longer someone else’s problems. If he can’t turn the ship around pretty soon, the knives will come out and his former backers and supporters will have him walk the plank. Aside from the fact that they like winners, it will take time to find a new candidate and organize a campaign for 2026 especially if their last choice turns out to be a dud.

Where Is The Audit Of The Trillium Line Procurement?

Looking around the current crop of councillors, one wonders if any of them have what it takes to be mayor. How many of those potential candidates will say “thanks but no thanks” to anybody coming to recruit them

There are also possibilities within the ranks of previous council members, of course. Will any of them want to follow in Sutcliffe’s worshipful path?

Maybe Jimbo will stage a comeback. Wouldn’t that be fun?

  2. Doug says:

Let’s see. Sutcliffe was elected mayor on Oct. 24, 2022. So he’s not been in office for one year. There are 1133 days before the next election. So who are the disgruntled and what percentage of the voting public do they represent?
