Transpo To Interrupt Train Due To Tunnel Water

OC Transpo will be interrupting train service over the next two weeks to repair, among a number of things, water infiltration into the light-rail tunnel near Rideau Station.

The repair work is east of the station in an area of unstable soil just down the street from the giant sinkhole that appeared during tunnel construction. The exact location of the water infiltration is not specified in the press release below. Neither does the release describe how serious this infiltration is.

The city has been caught lying twice, first by the CBC and second by this publication, about the severity of water problems in the tunnel. So The Bulldog cannot guarantee that the facts in the release below are true.

During times that the train line is closed. R1 bus service will be employed to move passengers by the closed portions of the line.

Auditor Should Probe Lansdowne Analysis: BENN

This is a release from the City of Ottawa. One wonders why the release has the words “Proactive Maintenance”  in the title. Isn’t it just maintenance? Or perhaps this publication has been lied to so many times during the last 12 years that everything coming from the city sounds a bit fishy:

Row Row Row your TRAIN? Will the city be fitting pontoons soon? What ever floats your train! Guess they have to fix the problem why? because the sump pumps can not keep up with the inflow? or did the design not call for sump pumps?

The spin doctors have been hard at work trying to make LRT failures appear to be planned excursions. It seems to me we could save a lot of taxpayer dollars if we fired all the people in the marketing department at city hall and replaced them with one or two folks in “The New Department of Truths”. Let’s really put Ottawa on the map by leading the way in not misleading the masses.

Truth … what a novel concept. Why does everything have to be spun to the people who are paying the bills.

    cheers
