Watson Confident Light Rail Will Work: WHOPPER WATCH
“It’s a frustrating experience for everyone. When it’s working, it’s a really great system. But when you have these big issues it’s completely frustrating. I have confidence in Mark [Sutcliffe] and his team to get those last five or 10 items finally resolved once and for all.”
Former mayor Jim Watson on the light-rail system he constructed
In a hard-hitting story in the Kitchissippi Times, Watson tells us that he takes light rail three times a week, just like all us just-folks.
So the ex-mayor is frustrated with the system like everyone else. We’re all in this together.
But isn’t he missing the elephant in the room? Wasn’t he responsible for this mess? Wasn’t it on his watch? Didn’t he take “full responsibility” for it except Rideau Transit Group did it?
Let’s Be Honest About Light Rail: THE VOTER
Yes he has confidence in Mayor Mark Sutcliffe to clean this mess up. Now that’s a relief. The man who screwed up light rail thinks the man he hand-picked to run for his old job will solve the Watson-created problem. And his former staffer is now the chief of staff. What could go wrong?
How long will Watson be in denial about this $2.2-billion monster he created?
He talks about it as though he had nothing to do with it. Maybe that’s what he thinks. Or he’s playing politics to the end.

Given who Jimmy “had confidence in” when he was the guy in charge and the chaos they left behind them, knowing he has confidence in Sutcliffe & Co. is not going to help me sleep easier at night. Au contraire, it’s likely to give me nightmares. In fact, Sutcliffe might be well served by issuing a statement saying he’s not the man Watson thinks he is.
I wonder how Watson’s fellow passengers regard him as they’re waiting to be herded onto the R1 buses. That is, of course, assuming they even recognize him.
Yes Jimbo and the Titanic was a nice vacation until an iceberg got in the way.
