A Lansdowne Stadium For A League Toronto Ignores

Your agent was watching TSN (Toronto Sports Network) when one of the blow-dried heads asked a question that has been throbbing in the brains of sports fans across the country who aren’t from Etobicoke.

Yes, Ottawa and Vancouver viewers were sitting on the edges of their seats waiting for the answer to this question. Which Toronto team will be first to win its next championship? The teams listed were the Leafs, the Raptors, the Blue Jays or Toronto FC.

If You Absolutely, Positively Must Screw Up A Deal …

Notice a team missing? Not in Toronto they didn’t.

The Toronto Argonauts won the Grey Cup in 2022, emblematic of the Canadian Football League championship.

So Toronto doesn’t even consider the Argos an important team in that city. But the City of Ottawa is building a new stadium for its RedBlacks football team of the CFL at a total cost of about a half-billion dollars … you know, the league Toronto is in.

A World-Class Developer City But Little Else: READER

When the CFL doesn’t even rate a mention in the largest market in Canada, that’s a big problem for the league. And TSN exclusively carries the CFL.

Many years ago when the City of Ottawa was considering building a stadium for CFL football, the late Senators owner Eugene Melnyk came to town with a Major League Soccer franchise in his pocket ready to start a club. The city went with Lansdowne and the RedBlacks.

Does that look like the best choice now?

Back to the question. The TSN suits went with the Leafs as the best choice to win Toronto’s next championship.

They have no idea.

Now you know how much the ‘BIG SMOKE’ thinks of the rest of Canada. The world according to Toronto, the city upon which the world turns. Not New York nor the Major city of Ottawa!
