Jim Watson’s On The Comeback Trail

Former Bay councillor Alex Cullen has misgivings about ex-mayor Jim Watson joining the board of the Ottawa Community Housing Corporation.

The only thing that Watson knows is politics and he is very good at the public relations side of it. Less so, administration. Witness how he handled Ottawa’s light rail. He ruined the biggest project in Ottawa municipal history.

But Watson is addicted to being the big man on campus. First we saw him doing a grip-and-grin at a community event with Mayor Mark Sutcliffe at Tom Brown Arena.

Now this. Watson is the Richard Nixon of Ottawa politics. Nothing can keep him down.

Frankly, after light rail, it’s hard to imagine who would pick him up but OCHC thinks he’s their man.

So now the big question is what former mayor Larry O’Brien will say about this.

That sound in the distance is O’Brien’s computer warming up.

An “opportunity” to screw up one more thing in Ottawa. WHY would anybody in their right mind choose Watson for anything?

  2. Ken Gray says:

    Bruce:

Does he think people will forget the LRT inquiry in a few months?

    cheers
