Kudos for the Liberals at Queen’s Park trying to get together Bill 5 to stop abuse of city councillor employees.

Too bad the Grits got it wrong.

The bill has the alleged offending councillor tried by his peers. An opportunity for politics perchance on city council?

Sloppiness Kills Provincial Abuse Bill

Perhaps a chance for an opportunistic mayor to muster his majority on council to take out a political enemy? No, of course not. All councillors and mayors are saints.

The bill was a good idea but councillors can’t be trusted with fairly judging a peer. We saw that with the Rick Chiarelli case. Council turned into a clown show.

Knee-Jerk Ex-Council Couldn’t Judge Its Peers: BENN

Leave the decision to remove a councillor with a judge. The legal system is better at being fair than the political wolves on city council.
