Friends Of Bank Street, Enemies Of Common Sense

It would be nice if a Bank Street subway took cars off the road. It won’t.

At best, a subway would cut traffic for a short period after construction.

Then really smart urbanists tell us that the roads just fill with vehicles again when motorists see the empty space.

So clearing traffic off Bank Street is a dream but not a reality.

Glebe Hipsters Want Their LRT Tunnel, Too

So too the idea of a Bank Street subway. People after the light-rail fiasco want nothing to do with commuter trains … even in The Glebe or better named, Entitlement Avenue.

That said, Bank Street won’t be without a subway. In fact, it has at least three already.

Subway makes a fine sandwich. Try the steak-and-bacon melt on a toasted whole wheat bun. It will make you forget about trains.
