This is a comment from former noted broadcaster and ex-councillor Carol Anne Meehan.

She is addressing former mayor Jim Watson’s comeback into the public scene including being named to the Ottawa Community Housing foundation board:

Watson is betting that we all have a short memory.

He was a petty, thin-skinned bully as mayor.

A long time representative once told me “municipal politics ruins good people”. Thank goodness Carol Anne did not stay long enough to be ruined or was strong enough to withstand the “bully”
What I do not understand is what municipal politics does to “bad” people. Makes them worse?

Insights from those who have “been there and done that” resonate. Carol Ann Meehan suffered the abuse (and I chose that word carefully) from that petty bully. People should listen to her … especially the Directors of Ottawa Community Housing. It is never too late to reverse the decision.

  3. Bruce says:

Looking at the composition of the board, I see a number who will be bullied and few who would initiate a reversal of the appointment of Watson. One has to wonder who nominated Watson to the board.
