What’s ‘Value Added’ About Watson? BENN

Saturday columnist Ron Benn weighs in on the controversial appointment of former mayor Jim Watson being appointed to a board with Ottawa Community Housing:

Talk about tone deaf.

The report from the provincial inquiry into Ottawa light-rail censured Watson for his competence, honesty, integrity, understanding of the role of council. And the existing board thinks that Watson offers a net “value add”?

Leadership sets the tone. Leadership needs to set an example. And with the appointment of Watson to the board of directors, they have certainly set the tone and an example. When the time comes to contemplate a new CEO, who will be on the short list: Steve Kanellakos, John Manconi or Alan Hubley?

    Exactly. The LRT and the Emergencies Act Inquiries already forgotten. One wonders if the board of Ottawa Community Housing will evolve into the toxic environment of our last City council? The Watson legacy is alive and well.
