“The event is outdoors so please dress in weather-appropriate attire with comfortable walking shoes.”

City press release on “official opening” of Commanda Bridge.

Wow. Talk about nanny nation.

Your agent worked from early morning to late night for 24 straight days during the ice storm of 1998. Parking his Citizen car on a farmer’s driveway and then sat in it as it slowly slid to the edge of rather large drop into a valley. Dodged an enormous branch that fell out of a tree in the Arboretum. Covered the only death in the storm. Drove over hundreds of downed power lines. Survived quite a few photo ops from fake events by politicians and their handlers. Caught a nasty case of bronchitis at the end of the 24 days.

Doin’ Shots On The Train: TOP 10 LIST

Not only that, I wore “weather appropriate attire” but still managed to get wet or cold or cold and wet. Saw people at their best and their worst. Was threatened and thanked.

So do reporters today need apparel instructions to cover a press conference? Likely not.

Do they need to by ferried to the press conference because there’s no parking nearby? Unlikely.

Anyway scribblers … don’t forget a scarf, a toque and those mittens you had as a kid that had the string that went behind you back.

I hope everyone is okay. The release is below:

  1. Ron Benn says:

Not a complete nanny nation, Ken. They did not remind everyone to use the washroom before they board the shuttle. Room for improvement, in either direction.
