Is Watson Prepping For Ottawa Centre?

A local political expert sent this message to The Bulldog via Twitter:

watson.ottawa.centre

A tweet that former mayor Jim Watson sent out sounded very much like Watson the politician.

That post is his style of political campaigning.

The man is an addicted politician. Watson will run for something sooner or later.

You’ll remember that a Bulldog Poll said readers of this publication believed he would have been re-elected had he run … even post-LRT inquiry.

Unfortunately, I don’t believe we’ve seen the last of Jim Watson. The fact that Mark Sutcliffe, the candidate he backed in the mayoralty race in 2022, won, was a clear indication that he ain’t goin’ anywhere soon. Not only will he run (and win), he’ll be telling Sutcliffe (who will also win) and all the other councillors what to do. YIPES.

A permanent affliction on Ottawa’s political past and future? He might even run for dogcatcher but the dogs would not vote for him!

  3. Ken Gray says:

    Bruce:

I think lots of people will vote for him. They don’t see through the charm.

    cheers

  4. sisco farraro says:

Sorry, Ken. What charm ? I gotta assume you’re showing your sardonic wit once again.

  5. Bruce says:

Ken Did you make a typo? Charm or Smarm?

  6. Ken Gray says:

    Nope, charm k

  7. Ken Gray says:

    Just charm. k

  8. Merrill Smith says:

Ottawa Centre might just surprise him and the commentators here. It has been the most left leaning part of Ottawa at every level. I don’t think those people will fall for the Watson charm.

  9. Ken Gray says:

    Merrill:

Him running again would give Ottawans an opportunity to tell him what they thought of his 12 years as mayor … good or bad.

    cheers

Okay – so we have to get on Yasir Naqvi’s case and persuade him not to run for the Ontario Liberal leadership. It’s the only way to save Ottawa Centre (and the rest of us!) from the return of the Watson! Yasir will just have to take one for the team! We need to get Justin to give him a substantive cabinet post so Toronto ceases to be attractive.

Is there a rehab program somewhere that serves people with a hopeless addiction to politics? A 12-step program is probably not enough when someone has it as bad as Jimbo. Of course, there will be an initial problem. The first stage to curing an addiction is admitting that you have it and we know he’s completely oblivious to his illness.

Doesn’t Vanuatu need an ambassador? I know it’s being slowly submerged into the ocean but maybe he can save them by building levees out of stale brownies that his followers could send him. There has to be somewhere he could be dispatched to. Do we have a diplomatic mission in Antarctica? Or on the moon? Well past time we set one up – it can be a one-person post so nobody else has to suffer the way we have.

    The Voter:

We’ve just had an announcement that the first Canadian is to go around the moon.

Maybe we could get them to take Watson, leave him there and trick him by saying an R1 bus will be by soon.

It’s only a temporary solution but it would be a pause the refreshes.

    cheers

    The Voter:

Send him on a cruise of the 1000 Islands, with a 3 month stay per island. Nice little retirement gift.

    The Voter:

Perhaps we can send him to Bruck an der Leitha, Austria. You say why?

Well The Bulldog had four page views today from Bruck an der Leitha, satiating Austrians’ addiction to Ottawa politics.

Bruck an der Leitha has a castle which is the town’s top attraction. It’s called Schloss Rohrau which is a mediocre site and the castle “so-so”.

Perhaps we could ask our Austrian friends to stage an intervention and take Watson there on a politics rehab mission to Schloss Rohrau. They could keep him there until he is cured … which could be sometime.

I’d be willing to go to Schloss Rohrau just to ensure it is secure because that’s the kinda chap I am.

Anything for the benefit of the town we call home.

    cheers

    kgray

ps if Schloss Rohrau doesn’t work we send him back to the moon

    cheers

    kgray

    Kosmo:

    I’m shocked.

  15. Kosmo says:

    Shocked you say, why Ken?

Who’s Patrick Uguccioni and when did he work for the City? Doing what? When? Sure sounds like testing the waters to me.
