So what happened to not giving free money to entrepreneurs a la Germain hotels. That decision didn’t last a week.

And where is the consultation process for Lansdowne 2? It appears it is going forward without a word from council. Or was it shovelled through in a quiet vote when ex-mayor Jim Watson was ruling the capital?

So we’re going to have an “open, competitive and transparent selection” on something that is going forward, come hell or high water.

The city sent out a consultation document to the public that gave all kinds of options except, “Do you want Lansdowne 2?”

Apparently Ottawans aren’t allowed to an express an opinion contrary to the objectives of staff and the mayor.

And then to call this process “open, competitive and transparent selection”. It’s the kind of “open, competitive and transparent selection” that the canary has before the cat eats it.

Survey document for canary:

Would like to be eaten whole or in parts?
Would you like this single cat to eat you or a number of cats?
Would you like to be plucked before eating?
Would you like to be barbecued or roasted?

Somehow or other the question of “Would you like to be eaten?” is missing from the survey.

My choice is aligned with the Dog’s. Tear down this wall or mess (except the cattle castle) turn it into a green space similar to NY central Park with farmers market, craft people in a limited number and some buskers? Perhaps a small stage NOT for big time acts but local presentations. Sort of Theater in the park style
Build a new stadium complex on the Lebreton brownfield (assisted by tax relief?) to suit the Red Blacks, Junior and NHL hockey and soccer
