Oh My God, I’ve Been LRT Blind-Sided: WATSON

In retrospect, some of the words of our elected officials on light rail look pretty ludicrous.

Looking back, do you think former mayor Jim Watson and Ontario Premier Doug Ford didn’t know what the provincial LRT inquiry would find?

That’s why Watson was squawking about being blindsided. It was his only defence. On that day, Watson’s political career ended. Ford knew it. And if Watson didn’t know, he found out.

When Will AG, OPP, RCMP Probe Ottawa City Hall?

And notice that the former mayor wanted the inquiry to be handled by the city auditor general. Frugality, of course. But also notice that the city AG has yet to probe the stinky procurement for the Trillium Line.

You remember. The winning bidder failed the technical standards for the line twice. And a committee looking at the procurement said the winning bidder should not get the Trillium contract.

It got it.

Always better to keep inquiries in-house, Watson felt. Wonder why?

Here below is Watson bobbing and weaving after Ford stepped into the light-rail ring. Watson was KO’d.

That said, he got the last laugh. He resigned and left a highly critical public with an LRT that doesn’t work.

Now poor Mayor Mark Sutcliffe is wearing this fiasco.
