My wife, my son and I have been in Ottawa since the early 1980s (well not our son, he’s still in his 20s). When we came to town, Ottawa was a cozy little government city where people still dressed in suits and ties when they went to restaurants for mid-week dinner outings. Over the past dozen or so years we have been planning our escape from town because the most recent editions of our municipal government have become too cartoonish. Additionally, crime rates have soared and we feel the city is no longer as safe as when we arrived. As such, we also plan to join the great escape very soon, small business in tow.
