Reader Mad And Sad About Lansdowne

Long-time Bulldog reader Jeff Aaron takes on the issue of Lansdowne:

Is there nothing that can be done to stop this blundering madness by city hall?

The whole fiasco of Lansdowne was doomed from the get-go. Stadiums need to be located in a direct path to public transportation.

FAILED OTTAWA: The Town That Fun Didn’t Forget

What were the knucklehead politicians thinking in investing in a project totally for the financial benefit of private enterprise? Selling Lansdowne Park for private development could have gone a long way for paying for football and hockey stadiums in LeBreton Flats which features light-rail stations and proximity to the growing Quebec communities a stones throw away.

Instead we have the Claridge abominations at LeBreton and the Minto monstrosities at Lansdowne with more to come from both. Oh well, hopefully a future generation will have some foresight to correct the mistakes made by the idiots who went along with today’s politicos.

Sad, bad and mad.

  1. The Voter says:

The truly sad part of it is that so much of it will be unfixable and, as they dive further and further into the morass, it becomes less and less fixable. Unfortunately, it seems that the voices of reason and sanity which are, in this case, also the voices of sound fiscal practices are being drowned out by the power of the almighty dollar.

It’s easy to support this madness when you don’t, and won’t ever, pay the bills. They also can’t see what the community assets are that they are permanently destroying.

Has anyone noticed that Doug Ford’s proposed gift to his friends in the real estate and entertainment industries at Ontario lace and the current Ontario Science Centre is aptly named ONTARIOLIVE?

Seems Landsdowne Live has inspired other would be feeders at the public trough.
