Take That LRT Show On The Road

I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed the light-rail news conference Tuesday afternoon.

Fun? One-liner after one-liner. Those guys should take that show on the road … any road … anywhere. Don’t take the train. I’ll pay for the way there. Maybe they’ll get like a 10-year contract like Celine Dion playing Vegas.

No, no … don’t feel you have to go home. Sign another contract. We miss you but that’s OK. Your future is in Vegas, not Ottawa. Comedy, not light rail.

What I liked best about the news conference (yes, I did say that) was how they could say that they immediately took those trains out of service when they saw grease on an axle. Don’t forget the Transportation Safety Board told them in February the under-carriage and the cartridges and the bearings were faulty. Way da get on the problem right off the top.

Maybe consider fixing it next time.

I feel safer knowing this.

We have the video evidence, right here with a click.

See ya in Vegas

  1. Bruce says:

Ken. There is a show on a CTV affiliate “Cottage Country” which is airing a series called “Engineering Catastrophes”. Stories about bridge collapses, the roof on the “Big O” , and a true examination of the causes. A one hour show normally made up of three segments from around the world. LRT would have to have an hour by itself with an ongoing segment month by month. Jim’s world class Ottawa would be even more of a laughing stock, or Vegas hit? Ripley’s believe it or not!

  2. Kosmo says:

What I don’t understand is the LRT was shutdown for safety reasons but the trains are still safe, very confusing message from the transit service GM.

terms like: in an abundance of caution, it will re open when it’s safe but it’s still a safe service. What is it? someone please help.
