What Would Provincial Administrator Find In LRT Files?

You know that Queen’s Park is becoming increasingly uneasy about what is happening with light rail in Ottawa.

In a recent post, The Bulldog suggested that Ontario Premier Doug Ford appoint a provincial administrator to take over the troubled project because it’s apparent the current management and city council simply can’t or won’t address this seemingly endless mess.

There’s another reason Ford might want to make that appointment. Ford has little love for former mayor Jim Watson and vice versa so this could work out very badly for the city’s ex-top pol.

Imagine what an administrator would find behind the scenes at that troubled rail endeavour. And that appointee would have a direct phone link to the premier.

Transpo Dumps Deadline For LRT Service Resumption

If you think the provincial inquiry found a bunch of dirt surrounding light rail, an administrator would have full access to all the goings-on concerning light rail from its inception.

We’re thinking Watson and others might not want a provincial administrator rifling through the LRT files. There are bodies buried there.

  1. The Voter says:

Hopefully, this person would be given the mandate to go back through what’s happened to date and start holding people accountable for the mess we find ourselves in. That would include going through the information revealed by the inquiry as well as other sources.

It’s very unlikely that you will change the behaviour and mindsets of the people involved in the LRT if there are not seen to be consequences for the actions of the past.

This person might find the true reason for accepting, not once but twice an effectively non-compliant bid. You know the bid which FAILED to meet the 70% threshold. Some might say it was accepted because it was the only bid to meet Jim’s train needs but others have a different perspective now that we know the cabal behind the lack of truth withheld and outright lied? to full council.
