12 To 28 Buses Replace Light-Rail Line

This is a release from the City of Ottawa:

Good morning Mayor and Members of Council,

I am writing to provide a brief update on service levels customers can expect today.

R1 service began this morning at 5:00am with 12 buses providing service approximately every 15 minutes. During peak periods this will be increased to 28 buses providing service approximately every 5 minutes.

Line 1 stations remain closed, and our staff are currently at major transit stations providing support to customers during their trip. Our team continues to meet regularly to review any feedback and implement any additional mitigation measures were possible.

Social media updates continue to be shared and customers are encouraged to check OCTranspo.com for the latest information regarding their trip.

I will continue to share updates as further information becomes available.

Thank you,

Renée Amilcar

    FOR HOW LONG?

That is one really weak release.

When are the peak periods? They know already from years of scheduling buses, so would be easy enough to say roughly between such and such a time.

Why are there “staff” at the stations? To do what? Point to the exit and say – this way to the great egress & no I’m sorry, I don’t know why the last 5 buses are a no show.

Review feedback from who? The bus drivers, they haven’t listened to them in years, why start now. The customers? Nope never listened to them either.

What that release failed to mention is that R1 service does not stop at Cyrville Station. There is a shuttle service instead running from St. Laurent to Cyrville. What’s the frequency of the shuttle?
