City Penalty With ‘Voluntary Resignation’? THE VOTER

the.voter .logo

The Voter takes on the issue from the recent auditor general’s report concerning an employee who used a city vehicle on city time to participate in the so-called Freedom Convoy:

The employee “voluntarily” resigned from the city and that’s it? No penalty imposed by the employer?

By voluntarily resigning, do they keep their pension intact? What is recorded on their personnel file? If someone calls the city in the future for a reference for this individual, what will they be told?

The Argument For A City Night Mayor

If they hadn’t resigned, what would have been the penalty? What other options did the city have? Firing? Demotion? Suspension? Would they have been publicly named? Could charges have been laid?

This individual chose their behaviour and now they get to choose to slip quietly out by the side door?

Accountability? Responsibility? More like SLIDE out the side door while visiting the money tree of severance.

  2. The Voter says:

    Bruce,
I hadn’t even thought of severance! This could be a quite lucrative ending for malfeasance. Nice work if you can get it, I guess!

It would be interesting to know the individual’s age. Will they be eligible for early retirement? Take the city pension and go work for someone else so you rake the money in.

    And he/she has been punished??
