E-Bus Scandal: City Further Erodes Trust: THE VOTER

It was pretty clear at the recent transit commission meeting that the generators will be the source of power for the buses until Hydro Ottawa can ramp up sufficient energy to power them,

It has not been disclosed yet how long that will take so it seems safe to say that, for the foreseeable future, the buses will be gas-powered. If Hydro or Enbridge or OC Transpo has more information, now’s the time to share it so we can get this cleared up.

The longer we go on with the smoke and mirrors, the less people will have faith in the stories we’re being given. The generators will be providing back-up energy in the long term but we need to have at least an estimate of how long that’s expected to be. Is it six months, a year, two years or even longer?

We know OC Transpo and various members of Ottawa City Council, past and present, have lied in the past and withheld information they thought would be unpalatable. They are no longer entitled to expect that the public, which is paying the bills at the end of the day, will believe whatever information they release. Those days are long gone.

Once you’ve violated trust, it has to be earned again and the appearance of attempts to not provide straight answers isn’t helping city hall’s cause.
