Graham Richardson Blows An LRT Fuse

Below we have Mayor Mark Sutcliffe, transit chief Renee Amilcar and transit commission chairman Glen Gower bravely boarding a light-rail train.

Missing from the photo was a representative from the light-rail subcommittee. Limited service on the line began Tuesday morning. The three officials were able to beat back the crowds on the early morning train for this photo.

Also below CTV’s Graham Richardson gets tough on Twitter about the partial launch. No doubt Ottawans share his concern:

Remember. Jim bought a 70% compliant bid so Ottawa should only expect a 70% functioning system 70 % of the time. Ottawa did PAY and is PAYING for a 100 % LRT so thank you to your wonderful diligent politicians whose noversight brought you this pig in a poke! Mayors and councilors from 2010 to the present.

I don’t live in Glen Gower’s ward, wherever that is, but this picture on his FB page appeared in my feed this afternoon. I made no comment, but those who did do not seem impressed. Not the vote getter he might be hoping for.

It almost looks like a brand new train, not one that’s four years old. Could that be because, in four years, it’s hardly been in operation enough to show any normal wear and tear? As long, of course, as you don’t look under the train or at the tracks, I suppose.

It appears from this picture all the customers are still on R1.
