Hubley Should Join Watson In Retirement: THE VOTER

Long-time Bulldog commenter The Voter weighs in on the video posted here on the festivities and words of the unveiling of the plans for Stage 2 LRT:

At least the others had the whatever to slink away and stop doing any further damage.

I’ve seen this clip of Kanata South Councillor Allan Hubley before but have just picked up on one thing he said. My focus previously was on his geographic challenges about where Moodie Drive is and where his Kanata ward is.

Today, I caught his comment that he plans to ride the LRT to Kanata before he retires. I feel like I should be invoking some kind of higher power at this point. If he’s basing his retirement date on the LRT arrival in Kanata, it looks like he’ll be a very old man before his constituents (and the rest of us) are rid of him.

Please, please, please voters of Kanata South, could you organize a better candidate for the next municipal election and rid yourselves and the whole of the City of Ottawa of this councillor? You have a couple of years to find someone and build community support behind that individual so Hubley can have the early retirement he so richly deserves.

Oh My God, I’ve Been LRT Blind-Sided: WATSON

On another point, were you aware that former mayor Jim Watson was the one who was the non-private-sector partner in this fiasco? “I’m very proud … of MY partnership with the private sector and the federal-provincial government.” I didn’t know he was the one in the driver’s seat and I wonder does this mean he’s chipping in for the municipal contribution? Hard to know what to say to that. Well, there’s always: “You’ve gone away, Jim – now stay away.” for starters.

The whole clip sounds so different given the advantage of hindsight, doesn’t it? Hubley just looked like a buffoon with his little whistle but now we know what he and the boys were really up to. The hubris of Watson is now clear to all of us but we could be forgiven for missing its true extent at the time.

Great opponents, two in particular, put their names forward in the last election, division of votes gave Hubley the win, despite the majority of voters showing their opposition to him representing us .

Just to remind people, everyone’s vote matters and voting for some underlining does not help get rid of an inept representative.
