    The Vacant Unit Tax is implemented as a negative billing scheme. If you don’t do the declaration correctly and on time, you get fined or handed a draconian tax surcharge. I understand this sort of process isn’t legal in the marketing world, but it seems to be okay at Ottawa City Hall.

    If the `powers that be`are allowed to get this sort of interference…next will be Do you live in a three bedroom house? and how many are there living there? Oh so you have a bedroom or two empty? Well here is a homeless person to share your house (note not home) with you. We live with FAR TOO MUCH government oversight of OUR private lives and FAR too LITTLE of Government doing their own JOBS!
