No, that isn’t odd. The city manager is normally the press contact person for senior leadership positions.
Council is only responsible for hiring city manager. The city manager is responsible for all other appointments or hirings.
I just wish she had started the hiring process in time to announce the new hire rather than an iterim.

I don’t know, what’s the biggest f**kup of the last five years? Maybe ‘Transportation’ should have an ‘Extended position?
The Leadership Team doesn’t include Chief Eric Stubbs? Surely an oversight.

I’m curious why the AG is on that list of extended leadership. I thought the AG was supposed to be independent of council. Yes, the City pays their salary but they’re not supposed to be best buds with City operations… they’re auditing them for goodness sake.

Just out of curiosity, where are the AG and her staff located? Are their offices in a city building such as City Hall or Centrepointe?
That would mean sharing elevators, cafeterias and the like with City staff. You’d be amazed what you can overhear in those lunch and break spots. There were a few times I’ve considered tapping someone at the next table on the shoulder and introducing myself but it’s rude to interrupt a conversation, isn’t it? And, of course, it’s infinitely more fun when we encounter each other later on and, after recognizing me, you can see them playing back the conversation and asking themselves what I possibly might have heard.
The AG and her staff need to be seen to be separate from the administration. There can’t be gray areas.
